It's actually not about investing, it's about them seemingly being unwilling to spend the money the club is generating. They don't have to put a penny in of their own, and under FFP rules it's very difficult nowadays to do that anyway,as Abramovich has found. Clubs in the PL should be self sufficient, which we are. You have to question why they won't spend money that should be readily available.

Problem is that we were told the move would lead to the revenues to move us forward - when the reality is there appears to be no difference.

EXACTLY. Just about every other club has outstripped us in terms of net spend (and we are forgetting the balance of the Payet money in our numbers by the way). Watlford spent over 40m and have vicarage road generating their revenues. Go figure. This window has laid the reality of our situation bare: owners who simply don't want to invest in the club.

It's just more of the campaign against West Ham getting ideas above their station.

Problem is that we were told the move would lead to the revenues to move us forward - when the reality is there appears to be no difference.

We have also had a dire start to the season and appear to have cheaped out on a deal, despite the supposed extra revenue.

Re: the real problem.
The real problem is that our midfield and defence are so vulnerable since the season before last. Our players make one mistake and it's a free run to the goal. If our defence were better organised, we would not be shipping goals. The team's poor form is what is creating the discontent, not the fucking stadium.

The problem is the management and coaching staff.

Re: the real problem.
Fo is absolutely correct - the move has ripped the soul and being from the club and in so doing, willfully jetisonned a significant number of it's hard core support with it

We have had poor owners and sides more often than not over the years, but we did have our West Ham

The current owners are best served by describing as knowing the price of evrything and the value of nothing

If it all goes pear this season, that they abandonned will become oh so self evident

From the move to undermining but not sacking Billic and / or financing the team as promised, they have treated the fans with utter contempt.
Their greed and stupidly has caught up with them.

Re: the real problem.
Yup- I agree with all that!

Once it was clear we had the same issues there were two options- give the current manager more, or replace the manager for one who will get more from the players he's got. (I definitely think another manager could do rather better with what we have)

So far they've done neither. I think in all probability they are waiting to see what happens with the Huddersfield and WBA games. I wouldn't be surprised if Bilic goes if we fail to win at least one of those.

At the end of the day as you say, they have ultimate responsibility.

I agree that I was pleased with our early business and dare say satisified when I heard we were after Cavalho because - as anyone who has been on here and suffered my endless moaning about central midfield will know - I felt we were dealing with the most important weakness area in the team. The preseason followed the initial transfer business and the problems of last season were plain to see and that we needed to invest further. Then the 3 opening games. Not losing but the size of the defeats and performances in 250 minutes of the 270 played.

Good the owners will act we assumed? Nothing... they did not remove the hapless Bilic and did not deliver a quality midfielder.

Yes Bilic is chief architect but the owners raised the expectations over a season ago and should have known that any sign of the team regressing would soon lead to unrest. WHen push came to shove they would not remove Bilic, not give him the player he said he wanted and IMO have now lined up Benitez. All this allowed them to minimise outlay.

Until they deliver an improved team on the pitch they will get abuse. I would agree if they had spent very little but we had won 2 or 3 , none of this would be happening.

In short they are ultimately accountable and recent Sullivan comments suggest they do not want to meet their responsibilities and accountabilities. Bilic and owners deserve to know we are not happy.

'Yes Bilic is to blame for the immediate issues with the team but the owners are to blame for setting expectations and not meeting them'

Spot on. We were told that moving to the OS would allow us to compete at the next level. Now I'm not an imbecile and so last season I had no expectations and just wanted to get the season out the way and get settled.

This summer was the one for me and I feel we have been let down by the board and the manager.

Because if a net spend of £6m and players like Hernandez, Arnie, Hart and an ageing Zabaleta are "next level" then we have been sold a dud.

Had we gone out and got Carvalho, Jota, Sigurdson and another striker like Lorente or Wood from Leeds then I would be saying different and that we are heading towards next level.

But I am afraid we have been left well short. So my question to the board now is what is their description of 'next level'. What is their opinion of that and where do they want us to be?

Yup, there's some truth in that. Expectations have been raised and definitely not matched so far. I would say though that this season they've provided Bilic with enough to do far better than what he's managed so far. I also happen to think the squad wasn't actually as bad as the on pitch performances made it look either last season.

Let's be honest, until the season started, many of us were saying or admitting that we'd done good business this summer in spite of other issues.

Re: the real problem.
The older of Sullivan's two sprogs hinted last week that there was a possibility his dad might buy the stadium in the future.

KLANG!! ANOTHER LIE.

There's as much chance of that happening as Brady putting any of her own money into the club, apart from whatever small number of shares she's managed to acquire.

Sir Alf 1:24 Mon Sep 4
Re: the real problem.
Us fans compromised on the stadium on the understanding that the team and results have improved.

If we had a better team ( which I understand the manager has a huge influence on in terms of performance and results) and were in the top half the anger and vitriol would not have developed. This is a year of watching a hapless manager and team.

The owners asked us to compromise by moving on the proviso that things would improve on the pitch. They have got worse and show no signs of improvement. It is their responsibility to get the right manager and not accept underperformance and their responsibility to invest appropriately and wisely. They might take a while to get that right. We have waited over a year but the last window and inaction over the manager this season and last and now the pathetic attempt to dodge their accountabilities will not wash.

They need to stand up and take the brunt, replace the manager, up the investment in players and facilities ( training ground is 3rd rate).

Yes Bilic is to blame fo rthe immediate issues with the team but the owners are to blame for setting expectations and not meeting them. What did they expect? They are naïve at best and disingenuous in the extreme.

Deliver an improved team or step aside !!! No excuses!

Re: the real problem.
The stadium is a part of it.

The 'real' problem is a big combination of things. We'd still be in a fucking mess with transfers, squad strength, piss poor results, no real tactics- and if it floats your boat- shit owners and restless fans if we'd stayed at Upton Park as well.

The new stadium exacerbates things but it's only part of the problem.

Well I'm thinking the whole point is that you can actually see the pitch, so if you're so far away, the entire stadium will be crap.

Redeeming feature would be if it were a football stadium, but it's not.
